BPMM is an acronym for business process maturity model. A maturity model is an approach to assessment that evaluates an organisation’s performance in a certain area, business processes in this case, against best practice. Accordingly, informed measures can be implemented, based on the results of this assessment, to guide an organisation’s path towards improvement. Performance is graded along a continuum of five maturity levels. These are ordered low to high. The earlier levels are ad hoc and unpredictable, but as maturation occurs, the execution of business processes becomes more sophisticated and the results more predictable.
