Repeatable questions diagrams are a simple technique through which an in-depth understanding of new ideas can be obtained and an assessment made regarding their viability. The approach structures a problem statement and creates a pyramid of causes and sub-causes to identify the source of a problem or potential issues with the implementation of a solution.
Using ‘Repeatable Questions Diagram’
Step 1: The basic question is formulated. It should begin with ‘why’ or ‘how’.
Step 2: At least two potential answers to the question are identified.
Step 3: For each of the answers, new questions commencing with ‘why’ or ‘how’ are generated. This process then repeats until it is deemed to no longer generate valuable insights.
