Exploring Everything Marketing


Led by Dr. Anthony Foley and Dr. Paul Morrissey, the Academy of Marketing & Digital Transformation (MDT) was established in 2004 and brings together the expertise of a core team of 20 marketing faculty members within the School of Business. The mission of the MDT Academy is:


To be a major contributor to the growth and development of marketing practice in Ireland through practice minded research committed to the creation and diffusion of new marketing knowledge by building and promoting three interacting activities, namely: Teaching, Research, and Industry Interaction.


These three pillars form the basis upon which the MDT achieves its vision of creating a community of marketing practice where new knowledge and knowledge transfer is at its core. Key research and thought leadership activities are focused around improving marketing practices and creating roadmaps for transforming businesses into customer-centric high performing organisations. The Academy also provides a framework and an environment for marketers, academics, researchers and policy makers to engage one another to support enterprise and regional strategy

Faculty members have a broad range of interests in the marketing discipline and it is this intra-disciplinary nature of the group members that has created an enviable worldwide reputation for its contribution to marketing practice and academia, through world class practitioner focused publications. In addition to publishing in high ranking journals, members are also on numerous editorial boards and are constantly being sought for commentary on topical marketing issues and as speakers at national and international conferences.

MDT undertakes pioneering research in contemporary practitioner challenges and dilemas within a wide range of markeing topics including marketing strategy, brand management, reputation management, digital and media.

Over the years, RIKON has developed significant experience working with firms of all sizes and across numerous industry to design new service or customer experience journey or developing a marketing plan or creating a brand or launching a new website or transforming their digital presence. RIKON’s experienced researchers will develop insights that work for our industry partners because the solutions are practically derived.
